# Credit card

> Apply for the Every credit card, then track your balance, payments and statements

![Credit card's current balance and pending amount, with its next payment, available credit and credit limit.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/k5maP8xPODHl5ToY/images/illustrations/admins-banking-credit-card-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=k5maP8xPODHl5ToY\&q=85\&s=5e21412aa057874e42fdad1269c5bab6)

**Banking** → **Credit card** is where you apply for the Every credit card and manage it once you're approved. Company Admins and Bookkeepers can use it from the sidebar after your company finishes onboarding.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Every turns on the credit card company by company. If you don't see it, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io) to ask about it.

## Apply for the credit card

The application has two screens, **Connect accounts** and **Review & submit**.

**1. Start the application**

Select **Apply now**.

**2. Add a bank account**

Optional: under **Connected accounts**, you see your Every accounts and the bank accounts you've connected. To connect another bank through Plaid, select **Add new account**.

**3. Connect your accounting software**

Select **Connect bookkeeping software**, then choose your provider, such as QuickBooks Online or Xero. If you can't find your software in the list, select **Upload financials** and upload your statements for manual review instead.

If you see **Connect QuickBooks** instead, connecting it is optional.

**4. Choose who repays your balance**

Under **Set primary account**, choose the **Primary account** that pays your balance. Optional: choose a **Backup account** for when the primary doesn't have enough.

**5. Add your details**

Under **Additional information**, enter your **Estimated monthly card spend** and choose your **Number of employees**. Under **Card shipping address**, enter where to send your physical card.

**6. Continue**

Select **Next**.

**7. Accept the terms**

On **Review & submit**, under **Terms & conditions**, select each checkbox. They include authorizing Every to access your business bank account information and perform a soft credit inquiry (A check of your credit report that doesn't affect your credit score), and to debit your account to repay your balance.

**8. Submit**

Select **Confirm & submit**. The page then shows **Application in review**.

You can't continue from **Connect accounts** if:

* You haven't chosen a primary account.
* The page shows **Connect bookkeeping software** and you haven't connected your software or uploaded financials. The page says "Connect your accounting software to continue."
* Your connected accounts are below the minimum balance and the page says "You don't qualify for credit yet."

## After you apply

| What you see | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Application in review** | Every is reviewing your application |
| **Application rejected** | Every is unable to offer your business a credit card at this time, and lists the reasons when there are any. Select **Apply again** if your circumstances change, or **Go to Cards** to open [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md) and use debit cards |
| **Application approved** | Your **Approved limit** and how **Payments** are collected. Select **Continue** to open your credit card |

## Your credit card

Once you're approved, the page shows your balance, next payment, available credit and credit limit (The most a lender lets you owe on a card or line of credit at one time). It lists the account's credit cards while the account is open, and up to 10 recent transactions. The arrow beside each list opens [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md) or [Transactions](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/transactions.md). If your company earns cashback, **Settings** also shows your **Cashback level**.

Your credit card's fees are in the [Every Charge Card Cardholder Agreement](https://www.every.io/legal/every-charge-card-holder-agreement), which the application asks you to accept.

**2. Choose the year**

If you have statements from more than one year, choose the year.

**3. Choose the month**

Select the month you need.

## Change who repays your balance

1. In **Settings**, select **Autopay & linked accounts**.
2. In an account's menu, select **Set as Primary** or **Set as Backup**.

You can't remove the primary account until you set another one.

A change that would lower your credit limit takes effect after your next repayment. Until then you can select **Cancel change**.

![The Linked accounts sheet on the Credit card page, with the total limit, auto-pay settings and the accounts that repay it.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/qvvudeZxc26V6Klz/images/screens/admins-banking-credit-card-autopay-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qvvudeZxc26V6Klz\&q=85\&s=a7d9b7f3ea584633f8cc3ade368e948c)

## Redeem reward points

If **Settings** shows **Points**, that's your own reward balance.

**1. Open your rewards**

In **Settings**, select **Points**. **Redeem Rewards** opens.

**2. Choose the receiving account**

If **Select bank account** appears, choose the account the money goes to, or add one.

**3. Enter the points**

In **Amount**, enter how many points to redeem, up to your balance. When a rate is available, **Rate** and **Your Total** show what the points are worth.

**4. Submit**

Select **Submit**.

For help with a missing **Points** row, bank details or a redemption that hasn't arrived, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

## If your account is frozen

If the frozen-account banner offers **Make a payment**, select it to pay your full balance. The account unfreezes once the payment clears and no balance remains.

If the banner says the combined balance of your primary and backup accounts is below the required minimum:

**1. Open your linked accounts**

Select **Link a bank account** to open **Autopay & linked accounts**.

**2. Connect an account**

Optional: select **Add account** to connect another account.

**3. Choose the repayment account**

In the account's menu, select **Set as Primary** or **Set as Backup**.

This low-balance freeze lifts when the combined balance meets the required minimum. For help with a freeze that remains, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

If one of your accounts disconnects, a banner says so.

1. Select **Open linked accounts**.
2. In that account's menu, select **Reconnect**.

## Agent reference

**Where:** **Banking** → **Credit card** in the sidebar. Applying for the credit card and managing it once approved both happen on this page.

**Who:** Company Admins and Bookkeepers, after the company finishes onboarding and Every has turned the credit card on for the company. Every turns the credit card on company by company. Employees, Contractors, HR Admins, HR Admins (No Comp) and Accounts Payable users can't see **Credit card** in the sidebar or open **Banking** → **Credit card**.

### Facts

#### Access and availability

* **Credit card** is listed under **Banking** in the sidebar only when Every has turned the credit card on for the company.
* To ask Every about the credit card, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
* The sidebar shows **Banking** to Company Admins and Bookkeepers once the company has finished onboarding, with **Credit card** under it when Every has turned the credit card on for the company.
* Employees don't see **Credit card** in the sidebar and can't open **Banking** → **Credit card**.
* Some screens on **Banking** → **Credit card** call the credit card a charge card: the banner titled "Your charge card is frozen" and the **Every Charge Card Cardholder Agreement** checkbox on **Review & submit**.

#### What the page shows

| Application | What **Banking** → **Credit card** shows |
| - | - |
| Not applied yet, or canceled | A screen with **Apply now**, so a company with a canceled application can apply again |
| In review | **Application in review** |
| Rejected | **Application rejected** |
| Approved | **Application approved**, then, after **Continue**, the credit card overview with the balance, the settings and recent transactions. A user other than the person the credit card was issued to sees the overview right away |

#### The application

* On **Banking** → **Credit card**, **Apply now** opens the application. The application has two screens: **Connect accounts**, then **Review & submit**.
* On **Connect accounts**, **Connected accounts** lists the company's Every accounts and the bank accounts the signed-in user has connected.
* On **Connect accounts**, **Add new account** connects another bank through Plaid.
* On **Connect accounts**, **Connect bookkeeping software** opens a list of accounting providers, such as QuickBooks Online and Xero. Choosing a provider starts its connection.
* In the provider list, **Upload financials** sits beside the line "Can't find your software?" Every reviews uploaded financial statements manually.
* **Connect accounts** shows either **Connect bookkeeping software** or **Connect QuickBooks**.
* With **Connect QuickBooks**, connecting accounting software is optional. With **Connect bookkeeping software**, the connection is required unless the company has uploaded financials.
* On **Connect accounts**, **Set primary account** has two fields: **Primary account** and **Backup account**. The backup account is optional: the **Backup account** list has a **No backup account** choice.
* The **Backup account** list leaves out the account chosen as primary.
* When the company has accounts and none is chosen as primary, the **Connect accounts** step selects a default primary account.
* On **Connect accounts**, **Additional information** has two fields. **Estimated monthly card spend** is required and takes a dollar amount, such as 15000.00. **Number of employees** is a required choice: 1 - 10, 11 - 50, 51 - 100, 101 - 500 or 500+.
* On **Connect accounts**, **Card shipping address** has the fields **Street**, **Apartment, suite, etc.**, **City**, **State** and **Postal Code**.
* In **Card shipping address**, **Street** is required and takes up to 35 characters. **City** is required and takes up to 50 characters. **State** is required. **Postal Code** is required and takes five digits. **Apartment, suite, etc.** is optional and takes up to 35 characters.
* **Card shipping address** has no country field and takes a US address.
* When Every approves the application, Every issues a physical card with the application's **Card shipping address**.
* On **Connect accounts**, **Next** moves to **Review & submit**.
* On **Review & submit**, **Terms & conditions** has five checkboxes: acceptance of the **Legal Agreements**, acceptance of the **Every Charge Card Cardholder Agreement**, acceptance of the **Charge Card Rewards Terms of Service**, an authorization for Every to access the business bank account information and perform a soft credit inquiry, and an authorization for Every to electronically debit the linked account to repay the balance.
* On **Review & submit**, the **Every Charge Card Cardholder Agreement** checkbox links to the agreement, at [every.io/legal/every-charge-card-holder-agreement](https://www.every.io/legal/every-charge-card-holder-agreement). The credit card's fees, such as those for a late or returned payment, are in the agreement.
* On **Review & submit**, **Confirm & submit** stays off until each checkbox under **Terms & conditions** is selected.
* After **Confirm & submit**, **Banking** → **Credit card** shows **Application in review**.

#### What stops the application

* On **Connect accounts**, **Next** doesn't continue when the company hasn't chosen a primary account. The page says "Select a primary repayment account to continue."
* On **Connect accounts**, **Next** doesn't continue when the company sees **Connect bookkeeping software** and hasn't connected its software or uploaded financials. The page says "Connect your accounting software to continue." Uploaded financials satisfy the requirement.
* On **Connect accounts**, **Next** doesn't continue while the page says "You don't qualify for credit yet." With that message, the page says a \$10,000 minimum balance is required and suggests connecting more business bank accounts or using Every's debit cards, which link to [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md).
* On **Connect accounts**, **Next** doesn't continue while a required detail is missing or invalid: **Estimated monthly card spend**, **Number of employees**, **Street**, **City**, **State** or **Postal Code**.
* The \$10,000 minimum balance shown on **Connect accounts** counts the combined balance of the company's Every accounts and the business bank accounts you've connected.

#### After the application is submitted

* **Application in review** shows a checklist of three items: **Submit application**, **Application review** and **Access credit card**.
* **Application rejected** says Every is unable to offer a credit card to the business at this time. It lists the reasons when there are any, and says the applicant is welcome to apply again if circumstances change.
* On **Application rejected**, **Apply again** opens the application. **Go to Cards** opens [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md), where the company can use Every debit cards.
* **Application approved** has two rows: **Approved limit** and **Payments**. The **Payments** row shows how Every collects payments, such as "Daily". **Continue** opens the credit card overview.
* Each company's credit limit shows as **Approved limit** on **Application approved**, and as **Credit limit** on the balance card on **Banking** → **Credit card** once approved.

#### Once approved

* After approval, **Banking** → **Credit card** shows a balance card with **Current balance**, **Next payment**, **Available credit** and **Credit limit**.
* After approval, **Banking** → **Credit card** lists the account's credit cards while the credit account is open. An arrow in that list opens [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md).
* **Recent transactions** on **Banking** → **Credit card** shows up to 10 rows of the credit account's transactions, and also shows while the credit account is frozen or closed. An arrow beside it opens [Transactions](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/transactions.md) filtered to the credit account.
* The **Settings** card on **Banking** → **Credit card** has **Autopay & linked accounts**. It also has **Cashback level** when the company earns cashback.

#### Making a payment

* **Make a payment** is a button in the header of **Banking** → **Credit card**. It appears when the account has a balance and isn't frozen.
* The **Make a payment** sheet has the fields **Amount** and **Choose account**. **Review** moves to a review step, and **Confirm and pay** submits the payment. Every then shows "Payment submitted."
* In the **Make a payment** sheet, **Amount** can't be more than the current balance, so a payment covers some or all of the balance.
* In the **Make a payment** sheet, Every takes the payment from the one account chosen under **Choose account**. Every doesn't try the backup account.
* In the **Make a payment** sheet, while another credit card payment is processing, Every says a payment is already processing and to wait for it to finish before trying again.
* In the **Make a payment** sheet, when a connected bank account chosen under **Choose account** lacks the balance, Every says the repayment account doesn't have enough available balance to cover the payment. When an Every account lacks it, Every says the payment was declined and the account may not have enough available balance. Other failures say Every couldn't submit the payment, with a reason or a request to try again.

#### Statements

* The menu next to **Make a payment** has **Download statement**. The item is unavailable until the company has a credit statement.
* With statements from more than one year, **Download statement** asks for the year first. Each statement is named by its month and year, and selecting a month downloads it.

#### Repayment accounts

* The repayment accounts of the credit card are the primary account and the backup account: the accounts with a **Primary** or **Backup** badge in the **Autopay & linked accounts** sheet. The **Autopay & linked accounts** sheet lists the company's Every checking account and the business bank accounts people at the company have connected. The banner "One of your linked accounts is disconnected." shows when one of the bank accounts the signed-in user has connected disconnects.
* Every debits the primary account for all amounts due on the payment due date. Every debits the backup account if the primary account has insufficient funds. The backup account is optional.
* The primary account and the backup account must be different accounts.
* The primary and backup accounts chosen in the application are the accounts that repay the credit card balance.
* **Settings** → **Autopay & linked accounts** on **Banking** → **Credit card** opens a sheet with a table. The table's columns are **Account**, **Balance** and **Auto-pay priority**. **Auto-pay priority** shows a **Primary** or **Backup** badge.
* In the **Autopay & linked accounts** sheet, an account's menu has **Set as Primary**, **Set as Backup** and **Remove**. The menu of a disconnected account has **Reconnect**.
* In the **Autopay & linked accounts** sheet, **Remove** is unavailable on a connected primary account until another account is set as primary. A tooltip says "Can't remove a primary account, set another account to be the primary". The primary account can't be removed even when it's disconnected: set another account as primary first.
* A change to the primary or backup account that doesn't lower the credit limit takes effect right away.
* A change to the primary or backup account that would lower the credit limit takes effect after the company's next repayment. Until then, a banner in the **Autopay & linked accounts** sheet says when the account becomes the repayment account, and **Cancel change** drops the pending change.
* Removing the backup account takes effect right away and can lower the credit limit.

#### If the credit card account is frozen

* A frozen credit card account shows a banner at the top of **Banking** → **Credit card**. For any freeze other than a low balance, the banner is titled "Your credit card is frozen". It says "Make a payment to pay down your balance and unfreeze your account." and gives no reason for the freeze. Its button is **Make a payment**.
* The banner titled "Your charge card is frozen" shows for a low-balance freeze. It says the combined balance of the repayment accounts dropped below the required \$10,000. It has two buttons: **Link a bank account**, which opens the **Autopay & linked accounts** sheet, and **Contact support**.
* When the account is frozen, the header of **Banking** → **Credit card** doesn't show **Make a payment**. The banner titled "Your credit card is frozen" has its own **Make a payment**.
* In the **Make a payment** sheet opened from the banner titled "Your credit card is frozen", **Amount** shows the full balance, labeled **Full balance**, and can't be changed. The sheet says "Paying your full balance unfreezes your account once it clears."
* A broken connection shows a separate banner: "One of your linked accounts is disconnected." Its **Open linked accounts** button opens the **Autopay & linked accounts** sheet, where the disconnected account's menu has **Reconnect**.

#### What freezes the credit card account

* A low balance is one reason a credit card account is frozen: the banner titled "Your charge card is frozen" says the combined balance of the primary and backup accounts dropped below the required \$10,000.
* The banner titled "Your credit card is frozen" gives no reason for the freeze. To ask why, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

#### What unfreezes the credit card account

* A settled payment that brings the credit card balance to zero unfreezes the credit card account, whether the payment was autopay or one made with **Make a payment**.
* A settled payment that leaves a credit card balance outstanding leaves a frozen credit card account frozen.
* A low-balance freeze on the credit card account lifts automatically at the next business-day check once the combined balance of the primary and backup accounts is back at \$10,000 or more, as the banner titled "Your charge card is frozen" says.
* A rise in the combined balance of the repayment accounts lifts only a credit card freeze placed for low balance. A freeze placed for another reason isn't lifted that way.

#### Reward points

* **Points** in the **Settings** card on **Banking** → **Credit card** shows the signed-in user's own reward balance when rewards are available to that user.
* Selecting **Points** on **Banking** → **Credit card** opens **Redeem Rewards**. **Amount** takes a number of points, up to the signed-in user's available points.
* **Redeem Rewards** on **Banking** → **Credit card** can show **Select bank account**, where the user chooses or adds the receiving account.
* When a rate is available and **Amount** is above zero, **Redeem Rewards** on **Banking** → **Credit card** shows **Rate** and **Your Total**, the points' cash value.
* **Submit** in **Redeem Rewards** on **Banking** → **Credit card** sends the redemption.

### Questions people ask

* **How do I redeem my reward points?** On **Banking** → **Credit card**, select **Points** in **Settings** when shown. In **Redeem Rewards**, choose or add a receiving account under **Select bank account** if that section appears, enter the number of points in **Amount**, review **Rate** and **Your Total** when shown, then select **Submit**. The amount can't exceed your available points.
* **Why don't I see Points in Settings?** **Points** shows in **Settings** on **Banking** → **Credit card** only when rewards are available to the signed-in user. To ask about rewards, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
* **Who can apply for the credit card?** Company Admins and Bookkeepers can, from **Banking** → **Credit card**, after the company finishes onboarding and once Every has turned the credit card on for the company.
* **Can an employee see or open the Credit card page?** No. Employees don't see **Credit card** in the sidebar and can't open **Banking** → **Credit card**.
* **Why isn't Credit card under Banking?** Every turns on the credit card company by company, so **Credit card** is listed only for companies Every has turned it on for. To ask about it, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
* **Do I have to connect accounting software to apply?** Yes, when **Connect accounts** shows **Connect bookkeeping software**, unless the company uploads financials with **Upload financials**. When **Connect accounts** shows **Connect QuickBooks** instead, no: connecting is optional.
* **My accounting software isn't in the provider list. What do I do?** Select **Upload financials** in the provider list and upload statements. Every reviews uploaded statements manually, and the upload satisfies the requirement.
* **Why can't I select Next on Connect accounts?** One of these is missing: a primary account, a connected accounting platform or uploaded financials (when the company sees **Connect bookkeeping software**), the minimum balance (when the page says "You don't qualify for credit yet."), or a required detail such as **Estimated monthly card spend**, **Number of employees**, **Street**, **City**, **State** or **Postal Code**.
* **Why does the page say I don't qualify for credit yet?** The connected accounts hold less than the minimum balance, which the page gives as \$10,000. The page suggests connecting more business bank accounts or using Every's debit cards in [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md).
* **What minimum balance does the credit card need?** The application and the banner titled "Your charge card is frozen" both give $10,000. When **Connect accounts** says "You don't qualify for credit yet.", it also says a $10,000 minimum balance is required. On that screen, the minimum counts the combined balance of the company's Every accounts and the business bank accounts you've connected. After approval, the banner titled "Your charge card is frozen" means the combined balance of the primary and backup accounts dropped below the required \$10,000.
* **Do I need a backup account?** No. The backup account is optional: choose **No backup account** under **Set primary account**.
* **Can the same account be the primary and the backup account?** No. The primary account and the backup account must be different accounts.
* **Which account does Every debit to repay my balance?** Every debits the primary account for all amounts due on the payment due date, and the backup account if the primary account has insufficient funds.
* **Can I enter a shipping address outside the US?** No. **Card shipping address** on **Connect accounts** has no country field and takes a US address with a five-digit **Postal Code**.
* **What happens after I select Confirm & submit?** The page shows **Application in review**, with the steps **Submit application**, **Application review** and **Access credit card**.
* **What if my application is rejected?** The page shows **Application rejected** and lists the reasons when there are any. Select **Apply again** if the company's circumstances change, or **Go to Cards** to use debit cards in [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md).
* **Can I apply again after a rejection or a canceled application?** Yes. **Apply again** on **Application rejected** opens the application, and a canceled application shows the screen with **Apply now**.
* **What credit limit will I get?** The **Application approved** screen shows the **Approved limit**, and **Banking** → **Credit card** shows the **Credit limit** once approved.
* **Where do I see my balance, next payment and available credit?** On **Banking** → **Credit card**, once approved: the balance card shows **Current balance**, **Next payment**, **Available credit** and **Credit limit**.
* **Can I pay part of my balance?** Yes, with **Make a payment**, while the account isn't frozen. **Amount** can be any amount up to the current balance. The payment sheet opened from the banner titled "Your credit card is frozen" locks **Amount** to **Full balance**.
* **Can I pay more than my balance?** No. **Amount** in the **Make a payment** sheet can't exceed the current balance.
* **Can I choose which account pays?** Yes. Under **Choose account** in the **Make a payment** sheet, select the account to pay from. Every uses only that account and doesn't try the backup account.
* **How do I download a statement?** In the menu next to **Make a payment**, select **Download statement**, then choose the year if there is more than one, then select the month. The item is unavailable until the company has a statement.
* **How do I change which account repays my balance?** On **Banking** → **Credit card**, select **Autopay & linked accounts** in **Settings**. In an account's menu, select **Set as Primary** or **Set as Backup**.
* **Can I remove my primary account?** No, not until another account is set as primary, even when the primary account is disconnected. **Remove** is unavailable on a connected primary account in the **Autopay & linked accounts** sheet.
* **Does a change to my primary or backup account happen right away?** It does when the change doesn't lower the credit limit. A change that would lower the limit takes effect after the next repayment, and **Cancel change** drops it while it is pending.
* **Where do I see my cashback level?** In the **Settings** card on **Banking** → **Credit card**, as **Cashback level**. The row shows when the company earns cashback.
* **What fees does the credit card charge?** The credit card's fees, such as those for a late or returned payment, are in the [Every Charge Card Cardholder Agreement](https://www.every.io/legal/every-charge-card-holder-agreement). The **Every Charge Card Cardholder Agreement** checkbox on **Review & submit** links to it.
* **What does a failed autopay or a late payment cost?** The credit card's fees are in the [Every Charge Card Cardholder Agreement](https://www.every.io/legal/every-charge-card-holder-agreement), which the application asks the company to accept.
* **What does Daily mean in the Payments row?** The **Payments** row on **Application approved** shows how Every collects credit card payments, such as "Daily".
* **Why is my credit card account frozen?** The banner titled "Your charge card is frozen" means the combined balance of the repayment accounts dropped below the required \$10,000. The banner titled "Your credit card is frozen" gives no reason for the freeze. To ask why, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
* **How do I unfreeze my account?** Under the banner titled "Your credit card is frozen", select **Make a payment** and pay the full balance. The freeze lifts once the payment clears and no balance remains. A low-balance freeze, shown by the banner titled "Your charge card is frozen", also lifts at the next business-day check once the combined balance of the primary and backup accounts is back at or above the required \$10,000; **Link a bank account** on that banner opens the sheet where accounts are set as primary or backup.
* **Does a partial payment unfreeze my account?** The account stays frozen if a balance remains after the payment settles. A payment lifts the freeze only when it settles and brings the balance to zero.
* **What can I do when the banner says a linked account is disconnected?** Select **Open linked accounts**, then select **Reconnect** in that account's menu.
* **How many transactions does the Credit card page show?** Up to 10, in **Recent transactions** on **Banking** → **Credit card**. The arrow beside it opens [Transactions](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/transactions.md) filtered to the credit account.
