> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.

# Checking account

> See your balance, account details, statements and recent activity in Every

![The Business checking card and its balance, with two account cards stacked behind it.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/k5maP8xPODHl5ToY/images/illustrations/admins-banking-overview-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=k5maP8xPODHl5ToY\&q=85\&s=cd50fc21e435ffb8abbd9cd847f2355f)

**Banking** → **Checking account** shows your Every business checking account: its balance, account details, statements and recent transactions. Company Admins and Bookkeepers can use it after your company finishes onboarding. If your **Banking** menu has no **Credit card** item, the sidebar calls this page **Overview**.

![Banking overview: the available balance and its history, a company card, and the checking, Treasury and external accounts.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/qvvudeZxc26V6Klz/images/screens/admins-banking-overview-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qvvudeZxc26V6Klz\&q=85\&s=be01afd9c8bffbe1477b51520c1fab3d)

## Your balance

The chart at the top shows **Available balance in Every**: your checking and Treasury balances combined, after any holds. Under it, **Pending** is money on hold, such as pending transactions, and **Total balance** is your balance before those holds. If your checking account is a primary or backup account for your credit card, **Pending** includes your credit card balance too.

If you have an active company card of your own, it sits next to the chart with what you've spent against its limit (see [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md)).

## Accounts

Three cards sit under the chart.

| Card | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Business checking** | Your checking balance. Select **Account details** to see and copy your routing number (The 9-digit number that identifies a U.S. bank in ACH payments, wires and checks) and account number. **Download bank letter** is there too |
| **Treasury** | Your Treasury balance and how it has changed. Select the arrow to open [Treasury](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/treasury.md). Without a Treasury account the card shows **Open Account** instead, and **Application submitted** while your application is in review |
| **External accounts** | The combined balance of accounts you've connected from other banks. Select the balance to see each one |

![Business checking account details with routing and account numbers and Download bank letter.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/qvvudeZxc26V6Klz/images/screens/admins-banking-overview-account-details-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qvvudeZxc26V6Klz\&q=85\&s=a584f3fab3c7325e78042474ff4bc6e2)

### External accounts

The menu on **External accounts** has these items:

| Item | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Link external account** | Opens Plaid, where you connect an account from another bank |
| **List of accounts** | Shows each account you've connected, and lets you remove one you no longer need. Your credit card's primary account can't be removed while it's the primary. First select **Set as Primary** on another account in **Autopay & linked accounts** (see [Credit card](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/credit-card.md)). If the sheet then shows **Repayment account change pending**, the switch happens after your next repayment |
| **Transfer funds** | Opens a form to move money between accounts. Only Company Admins see it |

## Turn on checking autopilot

Autopilot keeps your checking balance above a minimum you choose, moving money in when the balance is below it. To turn it on:

**1. Open autopilot**

On **Business checking**, select the autopilot button (the stars icon).

**2. Turn it on**

Under **Autopilot status**, choose **Enabled**.

**3. Set the minimum**

Enter a **Minimum target balance**.

**4. Choose the backup**

Choose a **Backup fund account** from your connected external accounts. If you have none, select **Add backup account** to connect one.

**5. Save**

Select **Save**.

With a Treasury account, the backup is optional, and the button reads **Link backup account**. Autopilot uses the backup when your money market account balance isn't enough.

![Autopilot settings with Enabled selected, a minimum target balance and a backup fund account.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/19nP2pdcB7HMtcYU/images/screens/admins-banking-overview-autopilot-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=19nP2pdcB7HMtcYU\&q=85\&s=0f6c93fe8bd5a7078a6456f303d46c31)

To change or turn off autopilot:

1. In the autopilot sheet, change the **Minimum target balance** or **Backup fund account**, or choose **Disabled** under **Autopilot status**.
2. Select **Save**.

To ask when autopilot will next move money, or about an unexpected top-up, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io). Company Admins can start a transfer with **Move money** → **Transfer money** (see [Move money](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/payments.md#transfer-money)).

## Receive a customer payment

To get paid by a customer, give them the routing and account numbers from **Account details** on **Business checking**. For a wire, select **Download** → **Wire instructions** and send them the instructions. The item appears once your account has a routing number.

## Download

The **Download** menu has your **Bank letter**. **Wire instructions** appears once your account has a routing number. **Checking statements**, **Credit statements** and **Treasury statements** each appear once your company has statements of that type. **Credit statements** also needs **Credit card** in the **Banking** menu.

**1. Choose the statement type**

In **Download**, choose **Checking statements**, **Credit statements** or **Treasury statements**.

**2. Choose the year**

Choose a year to see that year's statements.

**3. Download the statement**

Select **Download** for the month you need.

## Move money

Select **Move money** to **Send money**, **Transfer money**, **Add funds** or **Deposit check**. Only Company Admins see **Transfer money** and **Add funds**. See [Move money](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/payments.md).

## Recent transactions

The page ends with your latest five transactions. Select one to see its details and, where the transaction allows it, upload a receipt. Select the arrow to open [Transactions](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/transactions.md).

Every is not a bank. Banking services provided by Thread Bank, Member FDIC.Yield is an annualized 4-week T-bill rate when held to maturity. Rates fluctuate and are current as of the most recent auction. The rate shown is subject to price fluctuation and is net of fees. T-bills are purchased at a discount to par (par= \$1,000), with the price being subject to market fluctuation. The amount of T-Bills available at a particular yield will depend upon the sellers’ offer size; any remaining cash balance after the purchase may not earn the same yield. In general the bond market is volatile, and fixed income securities carry interest rate risk. Fixed income securities are subject to increased loss of principal during periods of rising interest rates. Fixed income securities also carry other risks, including inflation risk, liquidity risk, call risk, and credit and default risks for both issuers and counterparties.Yield reflects the fund’s most recently published 7-day SEC yield and fluctuates. The SEC yield for a money market fund is calculated by annualizing its daily income distributions for the previous 7 days. You should consider the investment objectives, risks, charges, and expenses of a money market fund carefully before investing. This and other information is found in the fund’s prospectus. Please read the prospectus before investing. An investment in a money market fund is not insured or guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or any other government agency. Although a money market fund seeks to preserve the value of your investment at \$1.00 per share, it is possible to lose money by investing in a money market fund. Yields fluctuate and past performance is no guarantee of future results.Atomic Invest LLC (“Atomic”), through a clearing relationship with Pershing LLC (“Pershing”) offers a cash sweep program. Funds in transit to or from Program Banks are generally not FDIC-insured. The Sweep Program is administered by Pershing, LLC. Deposits at each Program Bank are insured by the FDIC up to \$250,000 for each insurable capacity. Based on eligibility criteria, the two FDIC-insured programs (“Bank Deposit Programs”) offered are 1) [Dreyfus Insured Deposits (DIDI)](https://www.dreyfus.com/sitelets/insured-deposits/dreyfus-insured-deposit-program-i-didi.html) and 2) [Liquid Insured Deposits](https://www.pershing.com/us/en/rates.html). Funds deposited into each sweep program, in aggregate, are eligible for up to \$2,500,000 of FDIC insurance. The sweep programs can be configured so that once the funds reach one or more Program Banks (up to \$250,000 for each insurable capacity at up to ten Program Banks), then the next Bank Deposit Program is initiated. Although certain types of accounts, such as trust accounts may be eligible for additional FDIC insurance based on the number of beneficiaries, funds will be allocated to each Program Bank in such a way that provides up to \$250,000 of FDIC insurance for individual accounts and \$250,000 of FDIC insurance for trust and other corporate account types, in each case per Program Bank. If clients elect to exclude one or more Program Banks from receiving deposits the amount of FDIC insurance available through the Atomic Invest account may be lower. Clients are responsible for monitoring their total assets at each Program Bank, including existing deposits held at Program Banks outside of the Atomic Invest account, to ensure FDIC insurance limits are not exceeded, which could result in some funds being uninsured. ## Agent reference

**Where:** **Banking** → **Checking account**. The sidebar calls the page **Overview** when the **Banking** menu has no **Credit card** item. Every turns on **Credit card** company by company, so the name depends on the company.

**Who:** Company Admins and Bookkeepers, after the company finishes onboarding. A user who is neither a Company Admin nor a Bookkeeper in the company can't open the page. Only Company Admins see **Transfer funds**, **Transfer money** and **Add funds**.

### Facts

* **Banking** → **Checking account** is the home of the company's checking account: balance, recent activity, transfers and adding funds.
* The heading at the top of the page reads **Overview** whichever name the sidebar uses for **Banking** → **Checking account**.
* The company cards page is **Company cards** in the **Banking** menu, or **Cards** when the menu has no **Credit card** item. See [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md).
* The **Banking** menu in the sidebar shows only to Company Admins and Bookkeepers, and only after the company finishes onboarding.
* **Banking** → **Checking account** isn't available until the company finishes onboarding.
* The chart at the top of **Banking** → **Checking account** is titled **Available balance in Every**. It plots the balance over time.
* **Available balance in Every** is the checking balance plus the Treasury balance. The checking part is the balance after holds. Balances in **External accounts** aren't in it.
* Under the balance on **Banking** → **Checking account**, **Pending** is money on hold. Its tooltip reads "Funds reserved for pending transactions, including your charge-card balance."
* **Pending** on **Banking** → **Checking account** is the amount of holds on the checking account.
* The charge-card balance in the **Pending** tooltip is the balance on the credit card. Some screens call the credit card a charge card.
* The credit card balance counts toward **Pending** only when the checking account is a primary or backup account that repays the credit card.
* Under the balance on **Banking** → **Checking account**, **Total balance** is the checking balance before holds plus the Treasury balance.
* Next to the chart on **Banking** → **Checking account**, a panel shows the signed-in user's own company card. See [Company cards](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/cards.md).
* The card panel on **Banking** → **Checking account** shows only when the signed-in user has an active card. A card that isn't active, such as a frozen card, doesn't show.
* The card panel on **Banking** → **Checking account** shows what the card has spent, labeled "Spent today" for a daily limit and "Spent this month" otherwise.
* The card panel on **Banking** → **Checking account** shows what is left of the card's limit, labeled "Left of $X/day limit" for a daily limit and "Left of $X/mo limit" for a monthly limit, where \$X is the limit. A card with no limit shows "No limit" instead.
* Under the chart on **Banking** → **Checking account** are three account cards: **Business checking**, **Treasury** and **External accounts**.
* The **Business checking** card shows the checking balance.
* On the **Business checking** card, **Account details** shows the routing number and the account number. Each can be copied.
* **Account details** on the **Business checking** card also has **Download bank letter**.
* The autopilot button on the **Business checking** card is a stars icon. It opens the autopilot settings.
* The **Treasury** card shows the Treasury balance.
* When Treasury is ready, the **Treasury** card shows how the balance has changed, and an arrow on it opens **Banking** → **Treasury**. The change shows only when it isn't zero.
* A company with no Treasury account sees **Open Account** on the **Treasury** card.
* A company whose Treasury application exists but isn't ready sees the badge **Application submitted** and the text **In review** on the **Treasury** card.
* Once Treasury is ready, **Banking** → **Treasury** has a **Buy** button, and the **Buy** flow offers Treasury bills. Its **Money market positions** and **Treasury positions** tables appear once the company holds positions of that kind. See [Treasury](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/treasury.md).
* The **External accounts** card shows the combined balance of the accounts the signed-in user has connected from other banks.
* Selecting the balance on the **External accounts** card opens a list titled **External bank accounts**.
* The menu on the **External accounts** card has **Link external account**, **List of accounts** and **Transfer funds**.
* **Link external account** on the **External accounts** card opens Plaid, where a user connects an account from another bank.
* **List of accounts** on the **External accounts** card shows the accounts the signed-in user linked. It lets the user remove one after a **Remove external account?** confirmation.
* A user can remove an external account that they linked themselves.
* An external account that repays the credit card balance, the primary account for credit card autopay, can't be removed. The screen says the account funds charge card autopay and to change the primary account in linked accounts first.
* To change the primary account, go to **Banking** → **Credit card**, select **Autopay & linked accounts** in the **Settings** card, open the menu on another account and select **Set as Primary**. The sheet says a primary account can't be removed until another account is set as the primary. If it shows **Repayment account change pending**, the switch happens after your next repayment. See [Credit card](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/credit-card.md).
* **Transfer funds** on the **External accounts** menu shows only to Company Admins. It opens **Transfer Funds**, the same screen as **Move money** → **Transfer money**, with the fields **Transfer from** and **Transfer to**.
* Checking autopilot on **Banking** → **Checking account** keeps the checking balance above a minimum that the user chooses.
* The checking autopilot sheet, opened from the **Business checking** card on **Banking** → **Checking account**, is titled **Autopilot**. It says "Turn on autopilot to keep your checking account balance above the minimum you choose."
* When the checking account's available balance is below the **Minimum target balance**, checking autopilot moves money in.
* **Autopilot status** in the checking autopilot sheet has two options, **Enabled** and **Disabled**.
* The **Minimum target balance** and **Backup fund account** fields in the checking autopilot sheet show only while **Enabled** is chosen.
* **Backup fund account** in the checking autopilot sheet lists the accounts from other banks that the signed-in user has connected, leaving out any that are disconnected.
* When no connected account is available to choose, the checking autopilot sheet shows a button to link one. It reads **Add backup account** for a company without Treasury set up and **Link backup account** for a company with it.
* The checking autopilot sheet has a **Save** button.
* Without Treasury set up, checking autopilot needs a backup account.
* With Treasury set up, the backup account for checking autopilot is optional. The autopilot sheet says to link a bank account if you want Plaid as a backup when your money market account balance is insufficient.
* While the company's Treasury application is in review, checking autopilot still needs a backup account: the backup is optional only once the Treasury account is open.
* With Treasury, checking autopilot pulls from the money market first when the money market covers the amount. When the money market can't, checking autopilot falls back to the backup account.
* Once the company has run payroll in Every, checking autopilot also tops up checking to cover payroll when that needs more than the **Minimum target balance**.
* Bookkeepers can save checking autopilot and change a saved checking autopilot setting on **Banking** → **Checking account**, the same as Company Admins.
* The **Download** menu on **Banking** → **Checking account** has **Bank letter**.
* **Wire instructions** in the **Download** menu on **Banking** → **Checking account** appears once the account has a routing number.
* **Checking statements** in the **Download** menu on **Banking** → **Checking account** appears once the company has checking statements.
* **Credit statements** in the **Download** menu on **Banking** → **Checking account** appears once the company has credit statements and **Credit card** is in the **Banking** menu.
* **Treasury statements** in the **Download** menu on **Banking** → **Checking account** appears once the company has Treasury and has Treasury statements.
* Each statement type in the **Download** menu on **Banking** → **Checking account** opens a list of years. Choosing a year lists that year's statements by month, and each one has a **Download** button.
* The **Move money** menu on **Banking** → **Checking account** has **Send money**, **Transfer money**, **Add funds** and **Deposit check**. See [Move money](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/payments.md).
* Only Company Admins see **Transfer money** and **Add funds** in the **Move money** menu. Bookkeepers see **Send money** and **Deposit check**.
* The last section of **Banking** → **Checking account** is a table titled **Recent transactions**. It lists the latest five transactions, newest first.
* Selecting a transaction in **Recent transactions** opens its details.
* A transaction's details offer a receipt upload when the transaction allows one and has no receipt attached yet.
* On **Banking** → **Checking account**, open a transaction's details from **Recent transactions**. If an attached receipt's actions menu shows **Replace**, select **Replace** to upload a replacement receipt.
* The arrow in the header of **Recent transactions** opens **Banking** → **Transactions**. See [Transactions](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/transactions.md).
