# Treasury

> Invest company cash in money market funds and U.S. Treasury bills from Every

![Treasury balance of \$850,000.00, split across money market and 1-, 3- and 6-month Treasury bills.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/k5maP8xPODHl5ToY/images/illustrations/admins-banking-treasury-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=k5maP8xPODHl5ToY\&q=85\&s=2b09e5a59926e6d5728762d484dbe33b)

**Banking** → **Treasury** lets your company invest cash in money market funds (A fund that invests in short-term, low-risk debt, such as Treasury bills, and aims to keep a stable value). You can also invest in U.S. Treasury bills (A U.S. government security that matures in a year or less, sold below its face value and repaid in full). Company Admins and Bookkeepers can use it after your company finishes onboarding.

## Open a Treasury account

Until your company has a Treasury account, a panel over the page describes Treasury and offers to open one. You need \$100,000 or more in your checking account. With less, the panel says "A minimum balance of \$100,000 is required to open a Treasury account." and offers no Open account button.

1. In the panel, select **Open account**.
2. Select **Submit application**.

The panel shows Application submitted until your Treasury account opens. You can also start from the **Treasury** card on [Checking account](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/overview.md).

## Your Treasury

Once your account is open, **Treasury balance** splits your balance by what you hold. **Today's rates** shows the yield (The yearly return an investment pays, as a percentage of what you put in) on the money market funds and on 1-, 3- and 6-month Treasury bills. **Money market positions** and **Treasury positions** list what you hold, each once you hold something there. Select the arrow on **Recent transactions** or **Interests and fees** to see the full list.

Select **Download** → **Treasury statements**, then a year if the menu lists them. The dialog has an **Account** tab and a **Tax statements** tab.

![The Treasury page, with the Treasury balance split across money market and Treasury bills, and the positions below.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/qvvudeZxc26V6Klz/images/screens/admins-banking-treasury-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qvvudeZxc26V6Klz\&q=85\&s=3aa25c5c68777cc132621fdaee722aa2)

## Buy Treasury bills or money market

Select **Buy** at the top of the page, or on **Treasury positions**.

**1. Choose the product**

Under **Choose product**, select **Money market** or **U.S Treasury**.

**2. Choose the funding account**

Under **Funding account**, choose **Every - Checking Account** or **Treasury - Money market**. For **Money market**, **Treasury - Money market** isn't available, so you fund it from checking.

**3. Enter what to buy**

* For **Money market**, enter the **Amount**. Your current fund shows below it. To use a different fund, select **Change**, choose a fund and select **Save changes**. That changes the fund for your money market, not only for this purchase.
* For **U.S Treasury**, enter an amount for any of **U.S Treasury - 1 month**, **U.S Treasury - 3 months** and **U.S Treasury - 6 months**. The **Auto-buy when maturing** switch on the 1-month row is the same setting as **Treasury autopilot** (see [Settings](#settings)).

**4. Optional: turn on minimum balance automation**

Under **Additional settings**, turn on **Enable minimum balance automation** and enter a **Minimum balance**. If your checking balance runs low, Every moves money from your money market to top it up. This is the same setting as the [checking autopilot](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/overview.md#checking-autopilot), and confirming the purchase saves it.

**5. Review the purchase**

Select **Buy treasury** or **Buy money market**, then review the **Transaction summary**.

**6. Confirm**

Select **Confirm & buy**. Every shows Confirmed with the note "This may take a few days to reflect in your treasury balance."

Money you put into Treasury bills stays invested until maturity (The date when a debt investment's term ends and its issuer must repay it) and isn't available to withdraw before then. Buys funded from checking can total up to \$1,500,000 per day.

## Withdraw from your money market

Select **Withdraw** to move money out of your money market. It opens **Transfer Funds** with **Transfer from** already set to your money market. In **Transfer to**, choose where the money goes. You can also select **Transfer** on **Money market positions**. The steps are in [Move money](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/payments.md).

## Settings

The **Settings** panel has two items:

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Treasury autopilot** | Opens **Rollover autopilot**. Choose **Yes** to repurchase your 1-month Treasury bills when they mature, or **No** to turn this off, then select **Save**. Money from matured 3- and 6-month bills, and from 1-month bills when autopilot is off, goes to your money market |
| **Money market** | Opens **Edit money market**. Compare each fund's yield, risk and fees where listed, choose your **Money market product** and select **Save changes**. Every sells the old fund and buys the new one |

![The Rollover autopilot sheet on the Treasury page, with Yes and No for repurchasing Treasury bills when they mature.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/qvvudeZxc26V6Klz/images/screens/admins-banking-treasury-autopilot-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qvvudeZxc26V6Klz\&q=85\&s=be96d575c2a041bc296af7670e45390c)

Every is not a bank. Banking services provided by Thread Bank, Member FDIC.Yield is an annualized 4-week T-bill rate when held to maturity. Rates fluctuate and are current as of the most recent auction. The rate shown is subject to price fluctuation and is net of fees. T-bills are purchased at a discount to par (par= \$1,000), with the price being subject to market fluctuation. The amount of T-Bills available at a particular yield will depend upon the sellers’ offer size; any remaining cash balance after the purchase may not earn the same yield. In general the bond market is volatile, and fixed income securities carry interest rate risk. Fixed income securities are subject to increased loss of principal during periods of rising interest rates. Fixed income securities also carry other risks, including inflation risk, liquidity risk, call risk, and credit and default risks for both issuers and counterparties.Yield reflects the fund’s most recently published 7-day SEC yield and fluctuates. The SEC yield for a money market fund is calculated by annualizing its daily income distributions for the previous 7 days. You should consider the investment objectives, risks, charges, and expenses of a money market fund carefully before investing. This and other information is found in the fund’s prospectus. Please read the prospectus before investing. An investment in a money market fund is not insured or guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or any other government agency. Although a money market fund seeks to preserve the value of your investment at \$1.00 per share, it is possible to lose money by investing in a money market fund. Yields fluctuate and past performance is no guarantee of future results.Atomic Invest LLC (“Atomic”), through a clearing relationship with Pershing LLC (“Pershing”) offers a cash sweep program. Funds in transit to or from Program Banks are generally not FDIC-insured. The Sweep Program is administered by Pershing, LLC. Deposits at each Program Bank are insured by the FDIC up to \$250,000 for each insurable capacity. Based on eligibility criteria, the two FDIC-insured programs (“Bank Deposit Programs”) offered are 1) [Dreyfus Insured Deposits (DIDI)](https://www.dreyfus.com/sitelets/insured-deposits/dreyfus-insured-deposit-program-i-didi.html) and 2) [Liquid Insured Deposits](https://www.pershing.com/us/en/rates.html). Funds deposited into each sweep program, in aggregate, are eligible for up to \$2,500,000 of FDIC insurance. The sweep programs can be configured so that once the funds reach one or more Program Banks (up to \$250,000 for each insurable capacity at up to ten Program Banks), then the next Bank Deposit Program is initiated. Although certain types of accounts, such as trust accounts may be eligible for additional FDIC insurance based on the number of beneficiaries, funds will be allocated to each Program Bank in such a way that provides up to \$250,000 of FDIC insurance for individual accounts and \$250,000 of FDIC insurance for trust and other corporate account types, in each case per Program Bank. If clients elect to exclude one or more Program Banks from receiving deposits the amount of FDIC insurance available through the Atomic Invest account may be lower. Clients are responsible for monitoring their total assets at each Program Bank, including existing deposits held at Program Banks outside of the Atomic Invest account, to ensure FDIC insurance limits are not exceeded, which could result in some funds being uninsured. ## Agent reference

**Where:** **Banking** → **Treasury**. The **Treasury** card on **Banking** → **Checking account** also starts a Treasury account application and, once the Treasury account is ready, has an arrow that opens **Banking** → **Treasury**. See [Checking account](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/overview.md).

**Who:** Company Admins and Bookkeepers, after the company finishes onboarding. Anyone without the Company Admin or Bookkeeper role can't open **Banking** → **Treasury**, **Buy** or **Transfer Funds**.

### Facts

#### Opening a Treasury account

* Until the company's Treasury account is ready, **Banking** → **Treasury** shows a panel over the page that describes Treasury and holds the actions for opening an account.
* The panel on **Banking** → **Treasury** shows **Open account** only when the company's checking balance is \$100,000 or more.
* With a checking balance below $100,000, the panel on **Banking** → **Treasury** says "A minimum balance of $100,000 is required to open a Treasury account." and has no **Open account** button.
* On **Banking** → **Treasury** the panel is shown without a way to dismiss it, so it has no **Got it**, **Do it later** or **Done** button.
* Opened from the **Treasury** card on **Banking** → **Checking account**, the panel can be dismissed. It offers **Do it later** next to **Open account** and **Submit application**, **Done** after the application is submitted, and **Got it** when the checking balance is below \$100,000.
* In the application step of the panel, Every asks you to confirm "that you would like to open a Treasury account" and shows the company's legal name under **Company**.
* Selecting **Submit application** in the panel requests the Treasury account. If the request fails, Every shows "Failed to request treasury account" with the reason.
* After a Treasury account application is submitted, the panel for opening a Treasury account reads **Application submitted** and says Every will review the application.
* From the time the application is submitted until the Treasury account is ready, the panel on **Banking** → **Treasury** reads **Application submitted**.
* The panel stays over **Banking** → **Treasury** until the Treasury account is ready.

| Treasury account | **Banking** → **Treasury** | **Treasury** card on **Banking** → **Checking account** |
| - | - | - |
| No application yet | The panel, with **Open account** when the checking balance is \$100,000 or more | **Open Account** button |
| Application submitted, account not ready | The panel, reading **Application submitted** | **Application submitted** badge and **In review** |
| Ready | The full page, with **Buy**, **Withdraw** and **Download** | An arrow that opens **Banking** → **Treasury** |

#### The Treasury page

* On **Banking** → **Treasury**, **Treasury balance** is a card with the balance and a bar that splits it by what the company holds: **Money market**, **1 month treasury**, **3 month treasury**, **6 month treasury** and **Cash**. Under the bar, a legend gives each name with its percentage and dollar value.
* On **Banking** → **Treasury**, **Settings** is a panel with two items: **Treasury autopilot** and **Money market**.
* On **Banking** → **Treasury**, **Today's rates** is a table with the columns **Asset** and **Yield**. It has a row for each money market fund and for **1 Month Treasury**, **3 Month Treasury** and **6 Month Treasury**.
* On **Banking** → **Treasury**, **Money market positions** is a panel that appears once the company holds a money market position. Its columns are **Asset**, **YTM** and **Total value**, plus a last column whose settings button opens **Edit money market**.
* The **Money market positions** panel has a **Transfer** button that opens **Transfer Funds** with the money market already set as **Transfer from**.
* On **Banking** → **Treasury**, **Treasury positions** is a panel that appears once the company holds a Treasury position. Its columns are **Asset**, **Cost basis**, **Market value**, **YTM** and **Par value**, plus a last column.
* In the **Treasury positions** panel, the **Asset** column shows "Matures on" and the month and day under the name of a position that has a maturity date.
* In the **Treasury positions** panel, the last column appears only when a row shows a transfer status or is the 1-month position. On the 1-month row, its settings button opens **Rollover autopilot**, and a **Rollover autopilot** badge shows when autopilot is on. A position that is being moved shows "Transferring to" and the destination.
* The **Treasury positions** panel has a **Buy** button that opens the **Buy** screen.
* **Buy** and **Withdraw** at the top of **Banking** → **Treasury**, **Transfer** on **Money market positions** and **Buy** on **Treasury positions** show only when the Treasury account is ready.
* The **Rollover autopilot** and **Edit money market** sheets open only when the Treasury account is ready.
* On **Banking** → **Treasury**, **Recent transactions** is a panel with the columns **Date**, **To**, **From**, **Payment Method**, **Type** and **Amount**. A transaction that isn't completed shows its status as a badge in **Amount**. The arrow on the panel opens the full list.
* On **Banking** → **Treasury**, **Interests and fees** is a panel with the columns **Date**, **Type** and **Amount**. The arrow on the panel opens the full list.
* **Download** on **Banking** → **Treasury** appears only once the company's Treasury account is ready, and holds **Treasury statements**.
* On **Banking** → **Treasury**, when Treasury statements exist, **Download** → **Treasury statements** opens a menu of years that combines the years with account statements and the years with tax statements, newest first. Choosing a year opens a dialog titled **Treasury statements** with the year and the tabs **Account** and **Tax statements**. Each statement is named by month and year.
* On **Banking** → **Treasury**, when the company has no Treasury statements yet, **Download** → **Treasury statements** opens the dialog for the current year without a menu of years.
* If the balance fails to load, **Banking** → **Treasury** shows an alert that says "There was an issue loading the balance." and asks you to try again in a few moments.
* If the money market rates fail to load, **Banking** → **Treasury** shows an alert that says "There was an issue loading money market rates." and asks you to try again in a few moments.

#### Buying Treasury bills or money market

* **Buy** at the top of **Banking** → **Treasury**, or on **Treasury positions**, opens the **Buy** screen.
* The **Buy** screen has the sections **Choose product**, **Funding account** and **Additional settings**. Under **Choose product**, the options are **Money market** and **U.S Treasury**, written without a period after the S.
* On the **Buy** screen with **Money market** chosen, Every asks for an **Amount**, shows the company's current fund with its **Yield** and **Risk**, and offers a **Change** button.
* On the **Buy** screen, **Change** opens **Choose money market fund**. **Save changes** there changes the fund for the whole money market, not only for the purchase, and it's saved when you select **Save changes**, even if you don't finish the purchase.
* On the **Buy** screen with **U.S Treasury** chosen, there is a row for **U.S Treasury - 1 month**, **U.S Treasury - 3 months** and **U.S Treasury - 6 months**. A buy needs an amount in at least one of them.
* On the **Buy** screen, each U.S Treasury row shows its **Yield** and **Current balance**, and its **Mature date** when it has one.
* On the **Buy** screen, a read-only **Total across runs** adds up the three U.S Treasury amounts.
* On the **Buy** screen, the U.S Treasury section says "When you buy a U.S Treasury, your funds stay invested until it matures and won't be available to withdraw before then."
* On the **Buy** screen, only the **U.S Treasury - 1 month** row has the **Auto-buy when maturing** switch. It is the same company setting as **Treasury autopilot**, and confirming the purchase saves the switch to that setting.
* Under **Additional settings** on the **Buy** screen, the **Enable minimum balance automation** switch is optional and has the word **Auto-sell** beside it. When the switch is on, a **Minimum balance** field appears. The switch starts from the company's saved minimum balance setting.
* When minimum balance automation is on and the checking balance falls below the **Minimum balance**, Every moves money from the money market to checking.
* Minimum balance automation on the **Buy** screen is the same setting as the [checking autopilot](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/overview.md#checking-autopilot). Confirming the purchase saves the switch's state, on or off.
* The button on the **Buy** screen reads **Buy treasury** or **Buy money market**, and selecting it opens a review with a **Transaction summary**.
* The **Transaction summary** lists the **Date**. For a **U.S Treasury** buy it also lists **Auto-repurchase treasuries** and **Total Investment**. It lists a line for each product with an amount above zero: **Money market**, **1-Month T-Bill Amount**, **3-Month T-Bill Amount** and **6-Month T-Bill Amount**. It also lists **Minimum balance automation**, **Minimum balance amount** and **Funded from**.
* On the review of a Treasury purchase, **Confirm & buy** submits the buy. Every then shows **Confirmed** with the note "This may take a few days to reflect in your treasury balance."

#### Funding and limits

* Under **Funding account** on the **Buy** screen, the options are **Every - Checking Account** and **Treasury - Money market**. Each option shows its account's balance, and the screen selects the account with the higher balance first.
* With **Money market** chosen on the **Buy** screen, the **Treasury - Money market** funding option is disabled, so a money market purchase is funded from **Every - Checking Account**.
* With **U.S Treasury** chosen on the **Buy** screen, both funding options are available.
* A buy on the **Buy** screen is refused when its total is more than the selected funding account's balance. The screen says "Insufficient funds in the selected account".
* A buy on the **Buy** screen with no amount entered shows an error saying "At least one investment amount is required", and a buy whose amount to spend is zero shows "Investing amount can't be empty".
* When **Every - Checking Account** is selected and an earlier Treasury buy funded from checking is still processing, **Funding account** shows a banner. It starts "Transfer in progress:", gives the processing amount and ends "treasury buy (processing). This amount is excluded from your available balance until it settles."
* When a new buy is more than what is left after a processing buy, the **Buy** screen says a treasury buy "is still processing" and how much "you can invest up to" right now.
* A Treasury buy funded from checking that is still processing is excluded from the checking balance available for a new buy until it settles.
* When the checking balance does not cover a Treasury buy, Every says "Your checking account does not have enough available balance to complete this transfer."
* When a Treasury buy is short only because an earlier transfer to Treasury is still settling, Every says "Your checking account does not have enough available balance. Recent transfers to Treasury are still settling." and asks you to try again or reduce the amount.
* Treasury buys funded from checking can total up to \$1,500,000 per day.
* The \$1,500,000 daily limit on Treasury buys counts the day's buys funded from checking.
* When a Treasury buy goes over the daily limit, Every refuses it with "You exceeded your daily limit of $1,500,000.00." When earlier buys already count that day, the message names the amount still available out of $1,500,000.00, "per previous transactions".
* On **Transfer Funds**, an amount above $1,500,000 sent to the money market is refused with "Exceeds $1,500,000.00 daily limit."

#### Treasury autopilot and matured money

* **Treasury autopilot** is one company setting. **Settings** → **Treasury autopilot** on **Banking** → **Treasury** opens it as the **Rollover autopilot** sheet, and the **Auto-buy when maturing** switch on the **Buy** screen saves the same setting.
* The **Rollover autopilot** sheet opens with the saved option selected. Its options are **Yes** and **No**, and **Save** saves the choice. **Yes** is described as repurchasing treasury at maturity, and **No** reads "There is no automation when treasuries reach maturity."
* Treasury autopilot covers 1-month Treasury bills only. With autopilot on, Every reinvests the money from matured 1-month bills. When checking and the money market together hold less than the company's minimum balance or what it needs for payroll, Every moves the shortfall from the matured 1-month bills to the money market instead. The **Auto-buy when maturing** switch and the **Rollover autopilot** badge appear only on the 1-month row.
* Money from matured 3-month and 6-month Treasury bills goes to the money market. Money from matured 1-month Treasury bills goes to the money market when **Treasury autopilot** is off.

#### Withdrawing

* **Withdraw** on **Banking** → **Treasury** opens **Transfer Funds** with **Transfer from** already set to the money market. In **Transfer to**, choose where the money goes. The steps are in [Move money](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/payments.md).
* **Transfer** on **Money market positions** and **Transfer funds** in **Edit money market** open the same withdrawal as **Withdraw**.
* **Transfer Funds** allows only Company Admins and Bookkeepers.
* The **Buy** screen says money in Treasury bills stays invested until the bill matures and won't be available to withdraw before then. **Transfer Funds** can't move money out of Treasury bills: the money market is the only Treasury account that **Transfer from** offers.

#### Settings and the money market fund

* **Money market** in **Settings** on **Banking** → **Treasury** opens **Edit money market**. It shows **Total treasury funds** with a **Transfer funds** button, and a **Money market product** section.
* In **Money market product**, each fund shows its **Yield** and **Risk**, and its **Fees** where the fund lists them.
* **Save changes** in **Edit money market** sells the old fund and buys the new one. The company has one money market fund setting, so the change applies to its money market, not to a single purchase.

* **Where does money go when a Treasury bill matures?** Money from matured 3-month and 6-month bills goes to the money market. Money from matured 1-month bills goes to the money market when **Treasury autopilot** is off. When it is on, Every reinvests it, unless checking and the money market together hold less than the company's minimum balance or what it needs for payroll; then Every moves the shortfall to the money market.
* **Does Treasury autopilot roll over 3-month and 6-month bills?** No. Treasury autopilot covers 1-month bills only, and only the 1-month row has the **Auto-buy when maturing** switch.
* **How do I turn Treasury autopilot on or off?** Select **Settings** → **Treasury autopilot** on **Banking** → **Treasury**, choose **Yes** or **No**, then select **Save**.
* **How do I change my money market fund?** Select **Settings** → **Money market** on **Banking** → **Treasury**, choose your **Money market product** and select **Save changes**. On the **Buy** screen with **Money market** chosen, **Change** does the same. Every sells the old fund and buys the new one.
* **What does minimum balance automation do?** When the checking balance falls below the **Minimum balance**, Every moves money from the money market to checking. It is optional, and it is the same setting as the [checking autopilot](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/admins/banking/overview.md#checking-autopilot).
* **Where are my Treasury statements?** Select **Download** → **Treasury statements** on **Banking** → **Treasury**, then a year if the menu lists years. The dialog has an **Account** tab and a **Tax statements** tab.
* **Where do I see interest and fees?** In the **Interests and fees** panel on **Banking** → **Treasury**, which has the columns **Date**, **Type** and **Amount**. The arrow on the panel opens the full list.
* **Why don't I see Buy or Withdraw?** Either the Treasury account isn't ready yet, or your role isn't Company Admin or Bookkeeper. **Buy** and **Withdraw** show only when the Treasury account is ready.
