> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

# Financial benefits

> Set up FSAs and commuter benefits, review enrollment and change benefit settings

![Commuter benefit spending against its monthly budget, above two employee contribution rows.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/k5maP8xPODHl5ToY/images/illustrations/admins-benefits-other-benefits-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=k5maP8xPODHl5ToY\&q=85\&s=7ea41b37e9622572b9515b0fbf2663bc)

Set up an FSA (Flexible spending account: an account employees fund from pre-tax pay to spend on eligible health or dependent care costs) or commuter benefit from **Benefits**.

Company Admins and HR Admins manage these benefits once payroll is set up and your company has finished onboarding. Employees review their enrolled plans on **My profile** → **Benefits** after self-service onboarding (see [My profile](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/employees/my-profile.md#benefits)).

> [!NOTE]
>
> Every turns on financial benefits company by company. If you don't see them, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io) to ask about them.

## Choose a benefit

| Benefit | Where to find it on Benefits |
| - | - |
| **Health FSA** | **Health** |
| **Dependent Care FSA** | **Financial** or **Health** |
| **Commuter Transit Benefits** | **Financial** |
| **Commuter Parking Benefits** | **Financial** |

Select the benefit you want to set up. When FSA plan-year cards appear, select the year first. The cards show each year's status and enrolled count. Commuter benefits use monthly contributions without a plan-year selection.

If setup asks **Who is the current CEO?**, follow [Use full-page setup](#use-full-page-setup). Otherwise, follow [Use the setup window](#use-the-setup-window).

## Use the setup window

**1. Start setup**

In the benefit's introduction, select **Get Started**.

**2. Choose the date**

In **Start Date**, choose one of the offered dates.

**3. Enter the contribution**

Enter **Annual Company Contribution** for an FSA or **Company Monthly Contribution** for a commuter benefit.

**4. Choose the email preference**

Choose whether Every should send an enrollment email or you will communicate with employees yourself.

**5. Submit setup**

Select **Submit**.

**6. Finish**

On the completion screen, select **Done**.

## Use full-page setup

**1. Answer the FSA question**

For an FSA, answer the question under **Get started**. If the screen shows "You're not qualifying", you can't continue. To ask about eligibility, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

**2. Choose the date**

In **Start date**, choose one of the offered dates.

**3. Enter the contribution**

Enter **Annual company contribution** for an FSA or **Monthly company contribution** for a commuter benefit. Stay within the contribution limit setup shows.

**4. Choose the CEO**

In **Who is the current CEO?**, select the person.

**5. Choose the email preference**

Choose whether Every should email employees about the benefit.

**6. Review who's eligible**

Optional: Select **Eligible for benefits** to review the people listed for enrollment.

**7. Continue or submit**

Select **Continue** or **Submit**, whichever setup shows.

If **Confirm your subscription** opens, follow [Confirm a subscription](#confirm-a-subscription) to finish. Otherwise:

**1. Confirm an FSA**

For an FSA, on **Review & confirm**, select **Confirm & submit**.

**2. Acknowledge the plan description**

On the completion screen, read the plan description and select its acknowledgment checkbox when shown. For **Health FSA**, **Done** stays unavailable until you acknowledge the plan description. If none appears, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

**3. Finish**

On the completion screen, select **Done**.

## Confirm a subscription

When full-page setup includes **Confirm & subscribe**, review the subscription before confirming. The subscription step does not appear when editing an existing benefit. You need an Every checking account as the payment method to confirm.

**1. Review the subscription**

On **Confirm your subscription**, review the pricing, payment method and total.

**2. Confirm the subscription**

Select **Confirm & Subscribe**.

**3. Acknowledge the plan description**

On the completion screen, read the plan description and select its acknowledgment checkbox when shown. For **Health FSA**, **Done** stays unavailable until you acknowledge the plan description. If none appears, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

**4. Finish**

On the completion screen, select **Done**.

## Review enrollment and change settings

Select a commuter benefit you've set up to open its dashboard. For an FSA, select the year on its plan-year cards.

The dashboard shows enrollment, company cost or budget, spending and status. The employee table shows contributions or elections, spending, budgets, effective dates and statuses.

1. On the dashboard, select **Settings** to open **Benefit settings**.
2. Update the available fields, then select **Save**.

| Benefit | What locks after employees make elections |
| - | - |
| FSA | The start date and company contribution |
| Commuter | The start date; the company contribution stays editable |

An ended benefit's dashboard settings are locked. For a change to locked settings, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

The setup window uses the same election locks. In full-page FSA editing, the start date locks after elections and the company contribution stays editable.

## Agent reference

**Where:** **Benefits** → **Health** for **Health FSA**. When selecting an FSA opens plan-year cards, **Dependent Care FSA** appears under **Health**; otherwise, it appears under **Financial**. **Commuter Transit Benefits** and **Commuter Parking Benefits** appear under **Financial**.

**Who:** Company Admins and HR Admins manage financial benefits after payroll is enabled and company and payroll onboarding are complete. FSA and commuter benefits also require Every to turn on financial benefits for the company.

### Facts

* Selecting **Health FSA** or **Dependent Care FSA** on **Benefits** opens plan-year cards or setup. Each FSA plan-year card shows a status and enrolled count.
* Selecting an FSA plan-year card opens full-page setup, a setup window or the benefit dashboard.
* **Benefits** → **Financial** → commuter transit benefits or commuter parking benefits opens full-page setup, a setup window or the benefit dashboard.
* The financial-benefit setup window uses **Get Started**, **Start Date**, **Annual Company Contribution** for an FSA or **Company Monthly Contribution** for commuter benefits, a notification choice and **Submit**. The window has no CEO field or separate review step.
* The financial-benefit setup window offers **Yes, send an enrollment notification email to eligible employees** or **No, I will send communications to my employees** for a new policy. The notification choice does not appear when editing a policy.
* Full-page FSA setup has **Get started**, **Start date**, **Annual company contribution**, **Who is the current CEO?**, an email preference and **Eligible for benefits**. A blocked eligibility answer shows "You're not qualifying" and prevents continuing. To ask about eligibility, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io). Without subscription confirmation, **Continue** opens **Review & confirm**, finished through **Confirm & submit**. With subscription confirmation, **Continue** opens **Confirm your subscription** instead of **Review & confirm**. Editing uses **Save changes**.
* Full-page commuter setup has **Start date**, **Monthly company contribution**, **Who is the current CEO?**, **Notify employees via email** and **Eligible for benefits**. A new commuter setup finishes through **Submit**, or **Continue** when subscription confirmation is enabled.
* **Eligible for benefits** in full-page FSA or commuter setup opens the eligible-people list.
* When full-page FSA or commuter setup includes **Confirm & subscribe**, **Confirm your subscription** shows pricing, the Every checking account payment method and the total. **Confirm & Subscribe** stays disabled until a payment method has loaded successfully. Editing an existing policy does not include this subscription step.
* Full-page FSA and commuter setup show plan-description acknowledgment when a plan description is returned. The completion action is **Done**.
* In full-page **Health FSA** setup, **Done** requires a plan description and its acknowledgment. If the plan description is missing, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
* A financial-benefit dashboard shows **Employees enrolled**, company cost or budget, **Budget spent** and **Status**. Commuter dashboards show **Monthly company cost** and monthly employee contributions; FSA dashboards show the plan year's company budget and annual company contributions and employee elections.
* A financial-benefit dashboard's policy status is **Scheduled**, **Active** or **Ended**. The employee table lists each person's company and employee contributions or elections, spending, budget, effective date and enrollment status. Employee enrollment statuses are **Active**, **Pending** and **Inactive**.
* **Settings** on a financial-benefit dashboard opens **Benefit settings**, with the start date, company contribution and **Save**. Once employees have elected an FSA, both settings are locked. Once employees have elected a commuter benefit, the start date is locked and the company contribution stays editable. An ended benefit locks both settings. When both settings are locked, the settings drawer directs changes to [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
* The financial-benefit setup window locks the start date after employees make elections. The setup window locks an FSA's company contribution after elections, and a commuter benefit's company contribution stays editable.
* Full-page FSA editing locks the start date after elections. The full-page FSA contribution field stays editable, and **Save changes** saves the updated contribution.
* Employees who have finished self-service onboarding review their own enrolled benefits on **My profile** → **Benefits**. Contractor and external profiles do not show the **Benefits** tab.

### Questions people ask

* **Why is Dependent Care FSA under Health instead of Financial?** When selecting an FSA opens plan-year cards, **Dependent Care FSA** appears under **Health**. Otherwise, it appears under **Financial** on **Benefits**.
* **Can I change the company contribution after employees enroll?** For an FSA, the dashboard's **Benefit settings** and the setup window lock the company contribution after elections. Full-page FSA editing locks the start date and leaves the company contribution editable. For a commuter benefit, company contributions stay editable after elections. An ended benefit's dashboard settings are locked.
* **Why can't I confirm the subscription?** **Confirm & Subscribe** requires a loaded Every checking account payment method on **Confirm your subscription**. Resolve the payment-method message on that screen before confirming.
