> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

> Choose coverage, review benefit contributions and cards and request a change after a life event

![Setup Medical Benefits with two dependents, one included and one excluded.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/HJ2vqdXRnn2zz44l/images/illustrations/employees-enroll-in-benefits-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=HJ2vqdXRnn2zz44l\&q=85\&s=93c48e0b7bfc97791ab563bba1e1ea5c)

Choose health coverage from **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**. On **My profile** → **Benefits**, review your plans, contributions and benefit cards after your company finishes onboarding.

Employees manage their own benefits here. Contractors don't have a **Benefits** tab on **My profile**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Every turns on benefit card replacement company by company. If you don't see it, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io) to ask about it.

## Before you begin

The health enrollment task appears once you've finished joining your company, when your company has coverage for you to choose, such as during open enrollment (The yearly window when employees can choose or change their benefits). While you join, choose your coverage in the Benefits step instead (see [Join your company](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/employees/join-your-company.md)).

## Choose your coverage

**1. Confirm your details**

On **Personal Details**, confirm **Sex** and **Marital status**, then continue.

**2. Choose who to cover**

For each type of coverage, select **Enroll in medical coverage** or the dental or vision option. Turn on the switch for each dependent you want covered. To add someone, select **Add another dependent**.

**3. Choose a plan**

Compare the available plans, including **You pay** and **Company pays**, and select a plan. Continue through the other coverage types shown.

**4. Review your choices**

At the **Review** step, the page is titled **Confirm & enroll**. Check your plans, covered people and costs.

**5. Sign documents when requested**

If **Legal** appears on **Review**, enter your full name for each document and select **I agree to electronically sign this document**.

**6. Add card delivery details when requested**

If **Card delivery** appears on **Review**, enter the address where you want your benefit card mailed.

**7. Confirm your choices**

Select **Confirm**. During onboarding, finish the remaining onboarding steps too.

## Waive coverage

**1. Waive the coverage**

Select **Waive medical coverage** or the dental or vision option.

**2. Give a reason**

Under **Choose reason why you waive**, select a reason. For **Other (please explain)**, enter it under **Please explain**.

**3. Finish your choices**

Continue through the remaining coverage choices and the **Review** step, including any **Legal** signatures requested. Then select **Confirm**. Waived coverage shows as **Declined coverage**.

The form warns that waiving means you won't be enrolled in the company's plan for that plan year. The warning says later enrollment requires a qualifying life event or the next open enrollment.

## Change a health selection

During enrollment, open **Edit your health benefit selection** on **Home** to reopen a submitted choice. On **My profile** → **Benefits**, use **Make changes** when it appears on the plan's card. Select **Plan details** to review the plan.

![The Benefits tab on My profile, with your medical and dental plans, Qualified life event and your benefit card.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/Ke3zQOf6ZEntGLJx/images/screens/employees-enroll-in-benefits-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=Ke3zQOf6ZEntGLJx\&q=85\&s=6a943059987bdb53eeaf22e2ceff2efd)

## Enroll in financial benefits

**My profile** → **Benefits** also offers FSA (Flexible spending account: an account employees fund from pre-tax pay to spend on eligible health or dependent care costs) and commuter elections for available health care, dependent care, transit and parking plans.

**1. Open the benefit**

On the benefit's card, select **Get started**.

**2. Choose whether to participate**

Select **Yes** to enroll or **No** to waive.

**3. Enter your contribution**

If you enroll, enter your amount in **Pre-tax income contribution**. Use the limit displayed on the form.

**4. Confirm the mailing address**

If the form requests an address for your benefit card, complete it.

**5. Review the election**

Select **Continue** to review the contributions, coverage period and any mailing address. When a Plan Summary appears, open it and select the acknowledgment after reading it.

**6. Finish the election**

Select **Confirm & enroll**, or **Confirm waiver** if you declined participation.

On **My profile** → **Benefits**, select **Make changes** on the commuter benefit's card.

**2. Change the contribution**

In **Pre-tax income contribution**, enter the new amount.

**3. Review the change**

Select **Continue** to review the contribution.

**4. Confirm the change**

Select **Confirm**.

FSA contribution elections are set for the plan year and cannot be changed from this screen.

If the Plan Summary cannot load, close and reopen the enrollment to try again.

**5. Choose an approver**

In **Select Approver**, select the administrator to review your request.

**6. Complete the coverage choices**

Complete the coverage steps shown.

**7. Finish the coverage choices**

Select **Complete enrollment** or **Save** when shown.

**10. Confirm the signatures when requested**

On **Review & sign**, select **Confirm**.

When **Activate card** appears for your physical card, select it and follow [Activate a physical card](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/employees/my-cards.md#activate-a-physical-card).

To replace a lost or undelivered card:

## Review retirement benefits

On **My profile** → **Benefits**, review any retirement plan listed, such as a 401(k) or Roth 401(k), and its contribution amounts. For enrollment, contribution changes or questions about the plan, contact your HR administrator.

## Agent reference

**Where:** **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**, the Benefits step during employee onboarding or **My profile** → **Benefits** after company onboarding.

**Who:** Employees managing their own benefits. The Employee role can open **Home**. The **Benefits** tab on **My profile** is unavailable for contractors and while self-service employee onboarding is pending. Benefit choices and controls depend on the person's plans and eligibility.

### Facts

* The **Enroll in health benefits** task on **Home** shows **Due now** and has **Dismiss**. The task does not appear while the employee's own onboarding is pending.
* The enrollment form opened from **Home** starts with **Personal Details**, including **Sex** and **Marital status**.
* The enrollment form opened from **Home** shows **Medical Coverage**, **Dental Coverage** and **Vision Coverage** for the available coverage types, with a plan-selection step for each type the employee enrolls in.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, each coverage form lets the employee enroll or waive. An employee who enrolls turns on switches for the dependents to include and can select **Add another dependent**. Each dependent's switch shows **Included** or **Excluded**.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, choosing to enroll includes the employee as a participant. An enrolling coverage form needs at least one participant before continuing.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, each plan-selection screen shows the available plans. Plan cards show **You pay** and **Company pays** monthly costs.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, waiving coverage asks for a reason under **Choose reason why you waive**. The **Other (please explain)** reason asks for text under **Please explain**.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, the coverage form warns before an employee waives that waiving means no enrollment in the company's plan for that plan year. The form's warning says later enrollment requires a qualifying life event or the next open enrollment.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, the **Review** step is titled **Confirm & enroll**. **Review** shows each chosen plan, the employee's monthly cost and who it covers. Waived benefits show **Declined coverage**.
* On **Review** in health enrollment from **Home** or onboarding, **Legal** appears when plan documents need signatures. Enter the full name and select **I agree to electronically sign this document** for each document before selecting **Confirm**.
* On **Review** in health enrollment from **Home** or onboarding, **Card delivery** requests the address where a benefit card should be mailed when that form appears. Complete the address before selecting **Confirm**.
* On the Benefits step during onboarding, an employee choosing health coverage must also complete the remaining onboarding steps after confirming the benefit choices.
* During enrollment, a submitted health choice can be reopened through **Edit your health benefit selection** on **Home**. On **My profile** → **Benefits**, a health plan card offers **Get started** or **Make changes** when enrollment or revisions are available. **Plan details** opens plan information.
* **Enroll in health benefits** on **Home** opens enrollment in Every. A separate health task on **Home** that names an outside benefits provider uses that provider's enrollment instead.

### Financial benefits

* On **My profile** → **Benefits**, financial enrollment supports **Health Care FSA**, **Dependent Care FSA**, **Commuter Transit Benefits** and **Commuter Parking Benefits** when those plans are offered to the employee.
* On **My profile** → **Benefits**, select **Get started** on a financial benefit card to begin. The election form offers **Yes** to enroll and **No** to waive before the benefit is active.
* In financial enrollment from **My profile** → **Benefits**, **Pre-tax income contribution** accepts the employee's election. The form displays the applicable limit and validates the contribution before **Continue** opens **Review**. FSA contributions are shown per year and commuter contributions per month.
* Financial enrollment from **My profile** → **Benefits** asks for a card mailing address for a new enrollment when the employee has no existing benefit card.
* Financial **Review** from **My profile** → **Benefits** shows the benefit, employee and company contributions, coverage period and any requested mailing address. A waiver shows **Waived** instead of contribution information.
* When financial **Review** from **My profile** → **Benefits** shows a Plan Summary, the employee must open and review the summary and select its acknowledgment before confirming enrollment. If the summary cannot load, close and reopen enrollment. A failed acknowledgment stops enrollment and asks the employee to try again.
* Financial **Review** from **My profile** → **Benefits** uses **Confirm & enroll** for a new enrollment, **Confirm waiver** for declining participation and **Confirm** for a contribution change. A successful enrollment shows **Enrollment complete**. A successful contribution change shows **Contribution updated**.
* On **My profile** → **Benefits**, an enrolled commuter benefit offers **Make changes** for contribution updates. Enrolled FSA elections cannot be changed from the financial enrollment screen. An active financial benefit cannot be waived from the financial enrollment screen.

### Life-event changes

* On **My profile** → **Benefits**, **Submit change** under **Qualified life event** starts the employee's own benefits change. The control requires eligibility and employment that has not ended.
* The life-event change form from **My profile** → **Benefits** asks for **Select a Qualifying Life Event**, the date requested for the selected event, supporting proof under **QLE Document** and an administrator under **Select Approver**.
* The life-event change form from **My profile** → **Benefits** lists acceptable supporting documents. When the form offers the no-document confirmation, the employee can attest that the event occurred and that documentation can be provided if requested instead of uploading a document. Without that option, supporting documentation is required.
* A life-event change from **My profile** → **Benefits** continues through the applicable health coverage steps. A coverage step can finish the change with **Complete enrollment** or **Save**. When **Review & sign** appears, each required document needs the employee's full name and **I agree to electronically sign this document**, followed by **Confirm**.
* On **My profile** → **Benefits**, a submitted life-event change lists its event and effective date under **Qualified life event**, with **Pending approval**.

### Benefit cards and retirement

* On **My profile** → **Benefits**, **Benefit Cards** lists the employee's benefit cards and allowances. Selecting a card opens its details, including spent and remaining allowance amounts and **Recent transactions**.

* Every turns on benefit card replacement company by company. On **My profile** → **Benefits**, the cardholder can select **Order new card** for an eligible physical benefit card, confirm the **Delivery address** and select **Order card**. A person cannot order a replacement for another person's benefit card.
* On **My profile** → **Benefits**, an unavailable replacement control explains an ended benefit, a recent replacement or a card on hold. For a card on hold, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
* On **My profile** → **Benefits**, retirement plans such as **401(k)** and **Roth 401(k)** show **Provider**, **You pay** and **Company pays** information. Employees should contact their HR administrator for plan details, enrollment or contribution changes.
* On **My profile** → **Benefits**, enrollment and contribution-change controls are unavailable after employment ends.
