> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

> Find your card purchases and reimbursements, add receipts, change categories and choose spending budgets

Your card purchases and reimbursements are on **My transactions** in the sidebar, after your company finishes onboarding. There you add receipts, change categories and choose spending budgets.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Every turns on budgets company by company. If you don't see **Budget** on a transaction, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io) to ask about it.

## Find a transaction

Select **Filter** to narrow the list by payment method, date, amount, direction or status.

In **Filter**, under **Status**, select **Missing information** to see the transactions that still need a receipt. Each page lists 50 transactions. A **Status** filter, or a filter set to **is not**, narrows only the page you're on.

## Add a receipt

A completed card purchase that needs a receipt shows **Missing receipt** in **Status**, and its details show **Missing information**.

**1. Open the transaction**

In the **Receipt** column, select the upload icon, or select the row.

**2. Add the receipt**

Under **Receipt**, add a PDF or image.

**3. Describe the purchase**

In the description field, enter what the purchase was for.

**4. Save**

If the sheet has a **Save** button, select it. If not, Every saves the receipt when you add it, and the description when you close the sheet.

If you get a link to upload a receipt, it opens a form that doesn't ask you to sign in.

**1. Add the receipt**

In the form, add the receipt.

**2. Describe the purchase**

Enter what the purchase was for.

**3. Submit the receipt**

Select **Submit** or **Save & Close**.

If the link has expired, upload the receipt from the transaction instead.

## Change a category

In a transaction's **Category** cell, select a new category. You can also right-click the row and select **Change category**.

To change several transactions at once:

**1. Select the transactions**

On **My transactions**, select the rows.

**2. Open the category choices**

Select **Assign category**.

**3. Assign the category**

Select a category.

Payroll transactions can't be recategorized.

## Tag a transaction to a budget

1. On **My transactions**, open the transaction.
2. Under **Budget**, select a budget you own.

If you own the current budget, you can move the tag to another budget you own or select **No budget** to clear it. A budget name without a picker means you can't change that tag.

To show the **Budget** column in the list:

1. Select **Display**.
2. Under **Fields**, turn on **Budget**.

The column is hidden by default.

## Ask to be reimbursed

Select **New reimbursement** to ask to be paid back for a company expense you paid yourself. See [Submit a reimbursement](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/employees/reimbursements.md) for the form, request statuses and deleting a pending request.

* The Employee role can open **My transactions**. The sidebar shows the item only after the company finishes onboarding.
* An Employee adds receipts to their own purchases on **My transactions**.
* The list on **My transactions** shows these columns by default: **Date**, **To/From**, **Balance**, **Payment method**, **Account**, **Category**, **Receipt**, **Status** and **Amount**.
* On **My transactions**, select **Filter** to narrow the list by **Search by card**, **Search by To/From**, **Payment Method**, date (**From** and **To**), amount (**Min** and **Max**), **Direction** or **Status**. The **Direction** filter offers **Credit** and **Debit**.
* **My transactions** lists 50 transactions a page.
* The **Status** filter on **My transactions** has two values: **Completed** and **Missing information**. Under **Status**, **Missing information** shows the transactions that need a receipt and have none attached.
* On **My transactions**, a **Status** filter, or any filter set to **is not**, narrows only the page you're on. The count at the bottom of the list then reads "matching items on this page".
* The **Status** column on **My transactions** shows **Missing receipt** for a completed card purchase that needs a receipt and doesn't have one.
* A transaction's details on **My transactions** show **Missing information** when the transaction can take a receipt and has none attached.
* A row in the **Receipt** column on **My transactions** shows an upload icon labeled **Upload receipt** for a transaction that can take a receipt and has none. Once a receipt is attached, the icon is labeled **View receipt**. Selecting the icon, or selecting the row, opens the transaction's sheet.
* The sheet on **My transactions** has a **Receipt** section with the upload. The receipt file is a PDF or an image: PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG or GIF.
* The sheet's description field on **My transactions** asks you to briefly describe what the purchase is for, and its placeholder is **Enter a description**. The field is labeled **What is this purchase for?** or **What is the purchase for?**, depending on the sheet.
* When the sheet on **My transactions** has a **Save** button, which shows while the receipt is missing, select **Save** to save the receipt and the description.
* When the sheet on **My transactions** has no **Save** button, Every saves the receipt as soon as the file is added, and the description when the sheet closes.
* On **My transactions**, the three-dot button beside an attached receipt in a transaction's sheet downloads it, or opens a menu with **Download**, **Replace** and **Remove**.
* **Accounting details** doesn't appear in the sheet on **My transactions** for the Employee role, even when QuickBooks is connected.
* A receipt upload link opens a form without asking you to sign in. The form takes a file and a description, in a field labeled **What is this purchase for?**
* A receipt upload link opens a form that you submit with its **Submit** or **Save & Close** button.
* On the receipt upload form that has a **Submit** button, an expired link shows a message telling you to sign in to Every and search for the transaction to upload the receipt. A link opened after the receipt was uploaded shows "Receipt already uploaded!".
* On **Home**, selecting a receipt to-do whose request has expired shows a message telling you to upload the receipt from the transaction instead.
* On **My transactions**, a transaction's category changes in its row's **Category** cell, or from **Change category** in the menu that opens when you right-click the row. **Change category** lists the categories to choose from.
* Employees can change the categories of their transactions on **My transactions**.
* On **My transactions**, rows can be selected. Selected rows bring up an action bar with **Assign category**, and choosing a category in the **Assign category** dialog applies it to the selected transactions.
* Payroll transactions on **My transactions** can't be recategorized. A payroll row's **Category** cell shows "Payroll" and has no picker.
* The **New reimbursement** button on **My transactions** starts a request to be paid back for a company expense the employee paid themselves. [Submit a reimbursement](https://every-a2724ddc.mintlify.site/employees/reimbursements.md) covers the form, approval statuses and deleting a pending request.
* Every turns on budgets company by company. When budgets are on, a transaction's sheet on **My transactions** has a **Budget** field.
* The **Budget** column on **My transactions** is hidden by default. Select **Display** and turn on **Budget** under **Fields**.
* With the Employee role alone, the **Budget** picker on **My transactions** offers the employee's own budgets. An employee who owns a budget can tag an untagged transaction to it.
* With the Employee role alone, moving or clearing a tag on **My transactions** requires ownership of the transaction's current budget. Moving a tag also requires ownership of the destination budget.
* On **My transactions**, a **Budget** name without a picker means the viewer lacks permission to change that tag. The tag remains visible.
* With the Employee role alone, select **No budget** in **Budget** on **My transactions** to clear a tag whose current budget you own.
* Deleting a spending budget keeps its tag visible on **My transactions**. An employee who owns the deleted budget can still move or clear the tag, but can't choose the deleted budget as a new destination.
